Resolved Question: what tips do you have for extending breath underwater?

hi i was free diving in the north sea today and i could hold my breath under water for about 4 minutes i want to be able to do it for longer because i'm going to cozumel next easter for holiday i want to be able to see the wild life underwater for longer without all the scuba gear which i find annoying plus i wanna swim with some sharks :D...
